"I am the vine; you are the branches." (John 15:5)

A Simple Mission

I was in a meeting recently where Ed Hampton shared his vision for how we help people down the path to a deeper relationship with God. He made the point that as Christians, we progress through the following steps:

Love God

Love people

Make disciples

I think most Christians feel like they see their mission in the first two, but the third one is relegated to the “professional” Christians. You know – those who preach and teach. The REALLY spiritual people. They feel like making disciples is not for everyone.

I’ll challenge you to think and pray about this one. As leaders we know that it is in our court to make disciples, but there are people in our groups (you know who some of them are) who should be making disciples also. The question I have is: Are we challenging them to do it?

Matt 28:19 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them everything I have commanded you.
