"I am the vine; you are the branches." (John 15:5)

Simple Wisdom

I was teaching in small group last week about the dangers of “Let your conscience be your guide”. God uses our conscience, but it is not the ultimate authority on right and wrong. Our consciences are affected by our environment and life experience. The bottom line of the lesson became the children’s song: “O Be Careful, Little Eyes” – because our conscience is guided by the things we see, hear and do. We should be seeing, hearing and doing things that will help us remain solidly in Christ. The things we see, hear and do, shape us. If they are not edifying, it impacts who we become!

The older I get, the more I realize how much wisdom there is in the simple things I was taught as a child. If I think I’m too smart or too sophisticated for this… Houston, we have a problem!

O be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little eyes what you see

There’s a Father up above

And He’s looking down in love

So, be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little ears what you hear

O be careful little hands what you do

O be careful little feet where you go

O be careful little mouth what you say
